Russell C. Blodgett Dies At Age 75

Russell C. Blodgett, 75, of Astoria, died at 9:45 p.m. Saturday in the Culbertson Memorial Hospital, Rushville.

He was born on July 25, 1896, in Fulton County, the son of Harvey and Anna (Meisenheimer) Blodgett. He was married to Cassie Foutch on December 23, 1916. She died in 1956. He then married Lola Danner on December 26, 1958. She survives.

Other survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Ina Camp of Astoria, Mrs. Mary Sepich and Mrs. Thelma Lockard of Canton; one brother, Kenneth Blodgett of Pekin; one sister, Mrs. Gerald Lynch of Havana; three stepsons, Dwayne, Loren, and Wendell Danner of Astoria; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Willadean Shaffer and Mrs. Estelle Gunter of Astoria; three grandchildren; one great-grandson; and 10 step-grandchildren.

Two brothers died earlier.

A lifelong resident of the Astoria area, he was a retired farmer and was formerly employed by the Village of Astoria Water Department. He was a member of the Mounds Chapel Christian Church.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday afternoon in the Shawgo Memorial Home with Rev. Dale Eddington officiating. Burial was in the Summum Cemetery.
