Donald Ames

Donald R. Ames, 85, of Table Grove died at 11:25 p.m. Sept. 16, 2015, at St. Johns Hospital in Springfield.

He was born Jan. 3, 1930, in Table Grove, a son of Jesse and Laila DeFord Ames. He married Patricia Waters on Aug. 23, 1951, in Ipava. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Gary (and Sherry Davenport) Ames of Table Grove; one sister, Bernita Arnett of Table Grove; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Wendell Ames.

He was a farmer.

He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, serving from 1951-53.

He was a former member of the Table Grove American Legion.

Services were held Monday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Pastor Rob Harrison officiating. Burial was in Harris Cemetery in Table Grove, with full military rites.
