RUBY E. (HULVEY) WORKMAN

Ruby Workman

Ruby E. Workman, 89, of Astoria, died at 6:25 p.m. Sunday, July 26, 1998, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

She was born July 11, 1909, in Cuba, a daughter of George and Sarah Ann Strode Hulvey. She married Samuel B. Workman on March 8, 1927, in Keokuk, Iowa. He died Oct. 4, 1990. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, two sister, one grandson and two great-grandsons.

Surviving are two daughters, Marjorie Wilson of Astoria and Laverne Anderson of Macomb; three sons, James Workman and Max Workman, both of Astoria, and Virgil Workman of Nisswa, Minn.; 12 grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Frances Roberts of Tampa, Fla., and Freida Day of Sunland, Calif.

She was a cook for the Astoria Community Unit Schools for nine years. She was a member of Astoria Church of Christ.

Services were held this morning at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Rev. Cliff Parry officiating. Burial was in Astoria Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to her church or the Astoria Healthcare Center.
