Mrs. Bonnie Wherley Dies In Arizona While On Vacation

Mrs. Bonnie Wherley, 74, of 69 W. Chestnut St., Canton, died at 5:30 a.m. Thursday in Scottsdale, Ariz.

The Wherleys had visited their daughter and her family in Wyoming, then had gone to Scottsdale, Ariz., to visit with their son and family when Mrs. Wherley became ill.

Mr. and Mrs. Wherley formerly lived in Astoria before moving to Canton several years ago.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. yesterday afternoon in Murphy Memorial Home in Canton. Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery southeast of Astoria.

Mrs. Wherley was born at Astoria, Aug. 3, 1891, a daughter of John and Hattie (Farwell) Curless. She was married to John Wherley, who survives.

Others survivors are one son, Phillip Wherley, Scottsdale, Ariz.; one daughter, Mrs. Gerald (Hattie Sue) Wilkins, Powell, Wyo.; six grandchildren; three brothers, James Curless, Robert Curless and Ben Curless, all of Astoria; and a sister, Mrs. Jennie Thomas, Minneapolis, Minn.
