Kenneth Workman Found Dead Monday

Kenneth C. Workman, 59, was found dead shortly after 11 p.m. Monday night in the woods on the John Baum farm northwest of Astoria by searchers who were called in to look for him when he didn't return from cutting timber.

Mr. Workman was a lifetime Astoria area resident. He was born Sept. 30, 1905 in Kerton Township, a son of Dow and Margaret Farwell Workman. He was married to Ferne Gilson, who survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Shirley Corum of Peoria and Mrs. Barbara Hopping of Browning; one son, Robert Workman of Beardstown; eight grandchildren; two brothers, William Workman of Canton and Curtis Workman of Lewistown; and one sister, Mrs. Arlene Reedy of Table Grove. One brother preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday afternoon in the Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Rev. Fines Main officiating. Burial will be in Astoria Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Funeral Home Wednesday afternoon and evening.

Deputy Coroner Earl Coleman will conduct an inquest Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
