Aged Astoria Resident Dies

Conrad Wherley, 85, died at his home in the northwest part of town Tuesday evening at about 8 o’clock, following a four year illness.

Mr. Wherley was born near Gettysburg, Pa., June 27, 1863, a son of John and Catherine Stremmel Wherley. He was united in marriage to Lana Stauffer, who preceded him in death. On March 17, 1930, he married Mrs. Minnie Serf.

He is survived by his wife, and the following children: Mrs. Ida Horton and Harry Wherley, both of Astoria; Earl Wherley of Canton; Ray Wherley and Floyd Wherley, both of South Bend, Ind.; Clarence Wherley of Lewistown and Roy Wherley of Elmwood; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; also one sister, Mrs. Sadie Swartzbaugh of New Philadelphia.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Astoria Church of the Brethren, conducted by Rev. G. G. Canfield, assisted by Rev. H. A. Edwards. Burial in Woodland cemetery.

Friends may call at the Shawgo Memorial Home until the hour of the funeral.
