Clarence Wherley Dies Feb. 26

Clarence S. Wherley, 76, of 287 W. Walnut St., Canton, died at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, 1974, at Graham Hospital in Canton.

He was born April 18, 1897 in Astoria, the son of Conrad and Lana Stauffer Wherley. On Dec. 14, 1918, in Lewistown, he married Wayne Grable, who survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Paul and Larry Wherley of Canton and Myron Wherley of Ft. Worth, Texas; four daughters, Lila Waters of Pekin, Ruth Woods of Lewistown, Helen Phillips of Canton and Ruby Boyington of Aurora; 5 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and one brother, Earl Wherley of Lewistown.

Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at Murphy Memorial Home in Canton. Burial was in White Chapel Memory Gardens.
