RUTH L. (STAMBAUGH) TRONE

Ruth Trone

Ruth L. Trone, 88, of Shelton Conn., formerly of Astoria, died at 4:58 p.m. Sept. 9, 2011, at Bridgeport Hospital in Bridgeport, Conn.

She was born Oct. 24, 1922, in Browning, a daughter of Edward D. and Muriel Cox Stambaugh. She married Collis Trone on Dec. 6, 1941, in Palmyra, Mo. He preceded her in death on Oct. 12, 2006.

Surviving are two sons, Eddie (and Gloria) Trone of Folkston, Ga., and David (and Sharon) Trone of Keokuk, Iowa; one daughter, Linda (and Greg) Cerminara of Shelton, Conn.; one sister, Norma (and Verle) Chockley of Newcastle, Ind.; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Jerry Trone; and one brother, Homer Stambaugh.

She graduated from Rushville High School in 1940.

She was devoted to Collis and stood by him through his many career changes. It was quite a transition from farmer to minister and it was Ruth who kept everything running smoothly.

She was a nurses' aide, sales clerk for JC Penneys and secretary to Director of Public Relations at York College in York, Neb.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Greg Cerminara officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the memorial home. Burial will be in South Fulton Cemetery in Astoria.
