Jerry TroneJerry Alan Trone, 64, of Pekin died at 6:28 a.m. Aug. 19, 2009, at his home.

He was born Nov. 17, 1944, in Rushville, a son of Collis and Ruth (Stambaugh) Trone. He married Sharon Conner on Sept. 24, 1969, in Macomb.

Surviving are his wife; his mother of Shelton, Conn.; one son, Chad (and Julie) Trone of Peoria; one daughter, Angela Trone of Pekin; two brothers, David (and Sharon) Trone of Keokuk, Iowa, and Eddie (and Gloria) Trone of Folkston, Ga.; one sister, Linda (and Greg) Cerminara of Shelton; and four grandchildren.

He served as a crew chief in the U.S. Air Force in the Vietnam War.

He worked for Caterpillar Inc. for 35 years, retiring in February 2007 as a division manager. Previously he had worked for K.K. Stevens Publishing Company in Astoria as the assistant plant superintendent.

He was a member of Church of Christ in East Peoria, where he served as a deacon.

Services were held Monday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, with Rev. Zack Cox officiating. Burial was in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.
