Norma Chockley

Norma ChockleyNorma J. Chockley, 87, of Greenwood, Ind., formerly of Browning, died at 4:15 a.m. Dec. 4, 2013, at Greenwood Meadows.

She was born Oct. 24, 1926, in Browning, a daughter of Edward and Muriel Cox Stambaugh. She married Verle G. Chockley on Sept. 7, 1946, in Browning. He preceded her in death on Sept. 4, 2012.

She also was preceded in death by one son, Rodney Chockley; one grandson, Chris Chockley; one brother, Homer Stambaugh; and one sister, Ruth Trone.

Surviving are one son, Richard Chockley of Browning; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was a former school teacher at the Hickory one-room schoolhouse in Schuyler County.

She was a member of Astoria Church of the Brethren where she was the Sunday school treasurer for many years; Schuyler County HEA; former Hickory Township Election Judge in Schuyler County; and Home Ec Club.

Services were held Saturday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Pastor Kevin Owsley officiating. Burial was in Browning Cemetery.
