Tommy D. Thomas, 81, of Astoria, died at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.

He was born Aug. 29, 1920, in Enion, a son of William and Electa Thomas. He married Betty Orwig on Dec. 23, 1946, in Peoria. She died May 18, 1985.

He is survived by seven sons, Norman of Marquette Heights, Steve of Beardstown, Stanley of New Castle, Ind., Mike of Astoria, Dean of Winchester, David of Vermont and Phillip of Astoria; one daughter, Christina Morris of Astoria; 14 grandchildren; one step-grandchild; 9 great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; one brother, James of Astoria; and one sister, Lena B. Rohn of East Peoria.

He worked at Caterpillar Inc. for 29 years and later farmed.

He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Services were held Saturday at the Assembly of God Church in Astoria with Rev. Terry Lucas officiating. Burial was in Woodland Cemetery north of Astoria. Kost Memorial Home in Vermont was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
