Mrs. Electa Schantz Dies At Age 71

Mrs. Electa Belle Schantz, 71, a former resident of Astoria, died at 12:50 p.m. Friday in the Culbertson Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Fulton County Sept. 16, 1898, the daughter of Darven and America (Thompson) Thomas. In 1914 she married William H. Thomas at Lewistown. He died in 1942. On Feb. 22, 1959, in Delavan, she was married to Christian Schantz, who survives.

She is also survived by a daughter, Mrs. Lena Belle Rohn of East Peoria, and two sons, Tommy Thomas and James Thomas of Astoria, and 14 grandchildren.

Mrs. Schantz was a member of the Delavan Church of God.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Delavan Church of God, the Rev. William Atkinson officiating. Burial was in the Hopedale Mennonite Cemetery.

Pallbearers were six grandsons of Mrs. Schantz, Steve, David, Dean, Mike, Stanley and Robert Thomas.
