VELMA B. (GOULD) THOMPSON

Velma Thompson

Velma B. Thompson, 85, of rural Astoria, died at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, 1997, at the Prairie City Nursing Center, in Prairie City.

She was born Oct. 9, 1911, in Astoria, a daughter of Arch and Jessie Travis Gould. She married Glenn B. Thompson on May 25, 1930, in Astoria. He died June 9, 1995. She was also preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

She is survived by two sons, Max Thompson of Havana and Dean Thompson of Dunlap; one daughter, Mrs. Dale (Judy) Malott of Table Grove; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; one sister, Garnet Barnes of Galena, Mo.; and two brothers, Wayne Gould and Carroll Gould, both of Peoria.

She was a member of the Home Bureau.

Services were held Friday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Collis Trone officiating. Burial was in the Astoria Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Astoria Township Cemetery Association.
