Max Thompson

Max ThompsonMax D. Thompson, 80, of Havana died Jan. 6, 2017, at Mason District Hospital.

He was born Oct. 12, 1936, in Astoria, a son of Glenn B. and Velma Gould Thompson. He married Patricia R. Oswald on Nov. 24, 1956. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Brenda (and Robert) Reynolds of Illiopolis and Lori Lee of Dunlap; one son, Alan (and Bess) Thompson of Macomb; one brother, Dean (and Norma) Thompson; one sister, Judy Malott of Table Grove; and six grandchildren.

He moved to Havana from Peoria and Astoria in 1956 and has been a State Farm Insurance agent for 45 years, starting in 1972.

He was a member of United Methodist Church in Havana, Chamber of Commerce, Charter Member of the Havana Ducks Unlimited, president of Central Gun Club for years, Charter Member of the Havana Jaycees and Charter Member of Lakewood Golf Course.

He was selected Citizen of the Year for 2006, a big supporter of the Optimist Club and was a board member of the Havana Park District for years.

A funeral service was held Tuesday at Hurley Funeral Home in Havana with Rev. Jame Hahs officiating.
