Mary M. Tingley, 87, of Galesburg, formerly of Vermont, died at 5:29 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, 1982, in Cottage Hospital, Galesburg.
Born Feb. 20, 1895, in Vermont, she was a daughter of Theodore and Clarissa Musgrove France. She married Claude Tingley Jan. 20, 1917, in Galesburg. He died May 29, 1980.
One daughter, one brother, and one sister also preceded her in death.
She was a teacher many years, a member of National Retired Teachers Association, American Legion Auxiliary 26, West Prairie Church and a life member of ADK Sorority.
Surviving are five sons, Wendell of Colorado Springs, Colo., Rex of Macomb, Merle of Vermont, Ted of Carmel, Ind., Gale of Garden Grove, Calif.; and two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Martin of Macomb and Mrs. Barbara Smith of Muncie, Ind. Also surviving are 24 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and three stepgrandsons.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday in Kost Memorial Home in Vermont with Rev. John Derry officiating. Burial was in Vermont Cemetery.
