Claude G. Tingley Of Vermont Dies

Claude G. Tingley, 88, of Vermont, died at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, May 29, 1980, at Culbertson Hospital in Rushville.

He was born May 3, 1892, in Eldorado Township in McDonough County, the son of Ulysses Grant and Annie Leighty Tingley. He married Mary France on Jan. 20, 1917, in Galesburg. She survives.

Also surviving are five sons, Wendell of Colorado Springs, Colo., Rex of Macomb, Merle of Vermont, Ted of Carmel, Ind., and Gale of Garden Grove, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Martin of Macomb and Mrs. Barbara Smith of Muncie, Ind.; 24 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one brother, Loyal of North Ft. Myers, Fla.

He was a farmer and self-employed carpenter. He was a member of the West Prairie Church.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, two brothers and one sister.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Methodist Church in Vermont with Rev. Claude Curry officiating. Burial was in the Vermont Cemetery.
