Harold Sales

Harold SalesHarold Munson Sales, 90, of Eureka, formerly of East Peoria and Adair, died at 12:02 a.m. April 10, 2013, at Maple Lawn Health Center in Eureka.

He was born Sept. 21, 1922, in Rushville, a son of Harold K. and Roxanna Trimmer Sales. He married N. Roliene Hayes on Feb. 16, 1944, in Peoria. She survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Elaine (and Claude) Mott of Florida, Joyce Delaney of East Peoria and Carol (and Michael) Martin of Fox Lake; three sons, Norman (and Marianne) Sales of East Peoria, Edwin (and Janice) Sales of Marquette Heights and Jerry (and Ann) Sales of Eureka; two brothers, Van Sales of Peoria and Roger (and Nancy) Sales of Eureka; one sister, Barbara Bennett of Bartonville; 14 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Joetta Bidle; two sisters, Joyce Hazlerigg and Joanna Lester; and three brothers, Freddie, Vernon and Dr. Steve Sales.

He was a member of Peoria First Church of the Brethren for over 60 years serving in many capacities. He also was a member of American Legion Post #26 in Vermont.

In the 1960s, he owned Sales Body Building and Health Studio in Peoria. He pursued several occupations including factory work, farming, owner-operator of several filling stations and the trucking industry where he spent 25 years. He retired from Northshore trucking in 1979.

After retiring, he and his wife did volunteer disaster work resulting in becoming associate members of Cedar Creek Church of the Brethren at Citronelle, Ala.

Services will be held at noon Saturday at First Church of the Brethren, 4714 N. Sheridan Road, Peoria, with Pastor Dana McNeil officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Argo-Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in Eureka is in charge of arrangements.
