EDWARD M. “JACK” STRONG

Edward M. “Jack” Strong, 80, of Frederick, died at 6:02 p.m. Monday, May 13, 1996, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.

He was born Jan. 5, 1916, in Schuyler County, a son of Vern and Nellie Black Strong.

Surviving are one foster son, Kem Moore of Yates City; two sisters, Mrs. Robert (Laura) McMillen of Rushville and Martha Shores of Beardstown; one brother, George B. Strong of Columbia, Mo.; his friend, Betty Moore of Frederick, with whom he made his home; and three grandchildren.

One brother and one sister preceded him in death.

A World War II Army Air Forces veteran, he was a member of Schuyler American Legion Post 4 for 50 years. He worked at Curtis-Wright, now McDonnell Douglas Corp. in St. Louis for four years. He moved back to Schuyler County, where he farmed until retiring in 1983. He was a member of the former Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Pleasant View.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Wood-Roby Funeral Chapel in Rushville with Rev. Robert Belew officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at the chapel. Burial will be in Messerer Cemetery near Frederick, where military rites will be accorded by his American Legion post.

Memorials may be made to Culbertson Memorial Hospital.
