Martha Shores, 85, of Benton, Mo., formerly of Rushville, died Jan. 17, 2013, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
She was born Nov. 17, 1927, in Schuyler County, a daughter of Vern and Nellie Black Strong. She married Roy Shores on April 5, 1947, in Chicago. He preceded her in death on Dec. 11, 1994.
She also was preceded in death by one grandson, Chad Plain; three brothers, Randall, Edward "Jack" and George Strong; and one sister, Dorothy Jones.
Surviving are one son, David Shores of Tucker, Ga.; one daughter, Rebecca (and Leslie) Plain and of Benton, Mo.; one sister, Laura McMillen of Rushville; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was a 1945 graduate of Rushville High School.
She was a homemaker and member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Rushville.
Services were held Monday at Wood Funeral Home in Rushville with Reverend John Sowers officiating. Burial was in Messerer Cemetery.
