Guy Robertson, 77, of Browning, died at 8:45 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, 1999, at his residence.

He was born April 14, 1922, in Browning, a son of Fred and Ethel McFetridge Robertson. He married Fairy Rittenhouse on Sept. 9, 1946, in Canton. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Gary (Marsha) Jones of Browning; one brother, Keith of Browning; one sister, Maude Leighton of Canton; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by seven brothers and one sister.

He worked for McDougall and Hartman Construction Co. in Peoria for more than 35 years, retiring in 1983. He also served three terms on the Schuyler County Board from December 1986 until November 1998.

A World War II Army veteran, he was wounded in action in Italy and received the Purple Heart. He was a member of Schuyler American Legion Post 4. He also was a member of Vermont Lodge 116, AF&AM.

Graveside services were held Sunday at Browning Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by his American Legion post. Rev. Jim Shirley officiated. Masonic services were conducted by his lodge at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville following visitation on Saturday evening.
