GARTHA MAXINE (BAUM) ROYER

Gartha Royer

Gartha Maxine Royer, 81, of Macomb, died at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15, 1999, at Heartland Health Care Center.

She was born April 7, 1917, in Astoria, a daughter of John and Mary Burgard Baum. She married Norman L. Royer on Aug. 22, 1936, in Virginia. He survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Lyle of Gamaliel, Ark., and Harold of Moline; two daughters, Mary Duncan of Spokane, Wash., and Betty Behymer of Altona; five brothers, Ronald Baum of East Moline, Russell Baum of Columbus, Ind., Raymond Baum of Columbia, S.C., Richard Baum of Quincy and Robert Baum of Ipava; five sisters, Leona Skiles of Astoria and Margaret Wells of Muscatine, Iowa, Rosella Harvey of Columbus, Texas, Lola Mae Huff of Coal Valley and Judy Kellogg of Elmwood; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

One brother and one sister preceded her in death.

She was a sorority housemother at Western Illinois University. She was a member of Table Grove Community Church. She was a past president of the Rebekah Lodge.

Services were held Tuesday at Sargent-Worthington Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Hughes officiating. Burial was in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, the American Diabetes Association or any charity.
