Raymond Robinson

Raymond L. Robinson, 47, of Bloomington, formerly of Beardstown, died at 2:05 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, 1995, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bloomington.

He was born on Dec. 31, 1947, in Rushville, a son of Rev. Oscar and Elsie (Sumners) Robinson. He married Carolyn S. Holthoff on June 22, 1973 in Rushville. She survives.

Also surviving are his mother, Elsie Robinson of Camden; one son, Randy L. David and his wife, Beth, of Mackinaw; two daughters, Angela and Nikki Robinson, both of Bloomington; three grandchildren, Jeremy, Ryan and Lacey Ann David of Mackinaw; two brothers, Richard of Astoria and Marvin of Canton; two sisters, Mrs. Norman (Jo) Cox of Galesburg and Mrs. Charles (Lucille) Utter Jr. of Camden.

He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Larry.

He worked as an electrician for Oscar Mayer in Beardstown for 17 years before moving to Bloomington. Since January 1987 he has been a branch manager of Mitsubishi Motors Manufacturing in Bloomington. He spent 10 months in 1987 training in Japan. He was a 17-year member of Carpenters Union Local 904 in Jacksonville and was Chief Steward for 12 years. He served on the Cass County Board from December 1976 to January 1987 and was chairman from December 1982 until January 1987. He was active with the Democratic Party. He worked with the Cub Scout Pack 121 in Beardstown for three years.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Wood-Roby Funeral Chapel in Rushville with Rev. Bruce Lakamp officiating. Burial will follow in the Messerer Cemetery near Frederick. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Wood-Roby Funeral Chapel in Rushville.

Memorials may be made to the Oncology Department at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bloomington.
