Norman CoxNorman W. Cox, 79, of Galesburg died at 11:47 p.m. March 9, 2021, at Unity Point Health Peoria Methodist Hospital.

He was born Nov. 3, 1941, in Virginia, Ill., a son of Louis and Fern Dupes Cox. He married Joan Robinson on Nov. 2, 1963, in Rushville. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Kathy (and Rick) Jones of Littleton; one brother, Donald L. Cox of Virginia, Ill.; two grandchildren, Dusty (and Megan) Crook of Industry and Kelsie (and significant other Kurtis Strode) Jones of Littleton; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one grandson, Ryan Jones; three sisters, Betty Kaonohi, Alberta Dearing and Mary Jane Cox; and four brothers, Gene Cox, Gerald Cox, Jack Cox and Carl Cox.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1960-63 and was stationed in Germany for 32 months. He worked at Maytag in Galesburg for 33 years before retiring in 1996.

Funeral services were held Saturday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Mr. David Haney officiating. Burial was in Messerer Cemetery with military honors by Schuyler American Legion Post #4 and a U.S. Army honors detail.
