Lela Ray

Lela F. Ray, 78, of Astoria, died at 12:15 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, 1995, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.

She was born Aug. 19, 1917, in Liverpool Township, Fulton County, a daughter of Jesse and Hazel Grigsby Collins. She married Virgil Royer on July 24, 1936, in Virginia. He died Feb. 28, 1962.

She married Hardin Ray on July 17, 1964, in Pleasant Plains. He survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Randall (Darlene) Prather of LaPrairie and Mrs. David (Linda) Shaw of Roselle; one son, Terry Royer of Bartonville; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Larry (Janet) Bucher of Astoria; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Reta Rudd of Canton and Mrs. Willis (Eileen) Tippey of Astoria.

She also was preceded in death by one brother.

She was a member and past noble grand of Vermont Rebekah Lodge.

She was a member of Astoria United Methodist Church, where services were held Sunday with Rev. Lance Leeds officiating. Burial was in Rushville City Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to her church.

Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria was in charge of arrangements.
