Eileen TippeyEileen P. Tippey, 83, of Astoria died at 6:44 p.m. March 30, 2012, at Snyders Vaughn-Haven Nursing Home in Rushville.

She was born July 7, 1928, in Lewistown, a daughter of Jesse W. and Hazel Grigsby Collins. She married Willis Tippey on Oct. 26, 1947, in Astoria. He preceded her in death on Nov. 2, 2002.

She also was preceded in death by two sisters, Reta Mae Rudd and Lela Ray; and one brother, Paul Collins.

Surviving are five daughters, Carol Tippey of Herrin, Mary Jo (and Ron) Bates of Tucson, Ariz., Reta (and George) Doubet and Sandy (and Steve) Wittig, both of Astoria and Rita (and Kevin) Oliver of Canton; three sons, Allen (and Martha) Tippey of Rushville, Jim (and Debbie) Tippey of Bridgeton, Mo., and David (and Jerri) Tippey of Belleville; 20 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was owner and operator of Tippey Cement Pottery in Astoria.

She was a member of Harmony Rebekah Lodge of Vermont and Astoria United Methodist Church.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Astoria United Methodist Church with Pastor Gary Schultz and Reverend Robert Einhouse officiating. Burial will be in Summum Cemetery. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Astoria Rescue Squad.
