Mrs. Cora Ruth Dies In Kewanee

Cora RuthMrs. Cora Alice Ruth, 83, passed away early Saturday morning in the Kewanee Public Hospital, following admittance a few hours earlier. She had been in failing health for about a year. A resident of the Astoria area most of her life, she had resided seven years with her son Charles of Rushville, and the past year had made her home with her daughter Mrs. Irene Johnston of Kewanee.

Born September 6, 1884 in Woodland Township, in Fulton County, a daughter of Edmund and Lydia Stremmel Miller, she was united in marriage on Oct. 8, 1905 to George W. Ruth who preceded her in death on Sept. 25, 1950.

Surviving are three daughters: Mrs. Irene Johnston of Kewanee, Mrs. Twila Cox of Vermont and Mrs. Bonnie Fleming of Kenosha, Wis.; one son, Charles Ruth of Rushville; 17 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren. Three children, five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, four sisters, and two brothers preceded her in death.

She will be long remembered as a loving wife and mother and for the way she was always willing to help those in need.

She was a member of the Astoria Church of the Brethren where services were held Tuesday, Dec. 26, at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. D. Arnold Naff officiating. Burial was in the Woodland Cemetery.
