Charles Ruth

Charles William Ruth, 88, of Rushville, died at Snyder’s Vaughn-Haven Nursing Home at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, 1998.

He was born Jan. 11, 1910, in Woodland Township, Fulton County, the son of George William and Cora Alice Miller Ruth. He married Opal Geiman on Oct. 25, 1930, in Astoria. She died Oct. 7, 1989. One grandson, one granddaughter and five sisters also preceded him in death.

Surviving are one son, Delbert of Sparta; two daughters, Mrs. Harvey Jr. (Doris) Bubb of Bethany, Okla., and Mrs. Don (Joanne) Huston of Oklahoma City; 10 grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 15 step-great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and three step-great-great-grandchildren.

He was a packer at Bartlow Bros. for 21 years, retiring in 1973. He was a driver for Roby Funeral Chapel for several years and volunteered at Schuyler County Senior Citizens Center. He was a member of Astoria Church of the Brethren.

Services were held Monday at his church with Rev. Gary Schultz officiating. Burial was in Woodland Cemetery, Astoria. Wood-Roby Funeral Chapel in Rushville was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to his church or Schuyler County Senior Citizens Center.
