Mrs. Opal Ruth Of Rushville Dies

Mrs. Opal M. Ruth, 76, of Rushville, formerly of Astoria, died at 2:50 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, 1989, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.

She was born Jan. 6, 1913, in Fulton County to Joseph and Etta May (Schisler) Geiman. She married Charles Ruth Oct. 25, 1930, in Astoria. He survives.

Also surviving are one son, Delbert of Sparta; two daughters, Mrs. Harvey (Doris) Bubb Jr. of Bethany, Okla., and Mrs. Joanne McCurdy of Oklahoma City, Okla.; 11 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Marvin Geiman of Astoria; and two sisters, Mrs. Herman (Frances) Ward of East Moline and Mrs. Dean (Gladys) Chockley of Normal.

One grandchild preceded her in death.

She moved to Rushville 37 years ago and was employed at the Bartlow Packing Plant for 22 years. She was a member of the Astoria Church of the Brethren and the Culbertson Hospital Auxiliary. She also was a volunteer at the Schuyler Senior Center.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Astoria Church of the Brethren with Fred Meisenheimer and L. Wayne Rouse officiating. Burial was in Woodland Cemetery near Astoria. Roby Funeral Chapel in Rushville was in charge of services.
