Joseph H. Geiman Dies On June 22

Joseph H. Geiman, 88, of Abingdon, died at 5:35 a.m. on Wednesday, June 22, 1977, at Cottage Hospital in Galesburg.

Mr. Geiman was born Jun 9, 1889, near Browning, a son of J. Q. and Lydia Walton Geiman.

On Aug. 17, 1909, he married Etta Schisler. She died Nov. 9, 1918. Surviving are three children: one son, Marvin Geiman of Vermont; two daughters, Mrs. Charles (Opal) Ruth of Rushville and Mrs. Herman (Frances) Ward of East Moline.

On Dec. 26, 1925, he married Elizabeth Lannery. She died Mar. 20, 1930. Surviving is one step-daughter, Mrs. Dean (Gladys) Chockley of Normal.

On Mar. 20, 1932, he married Margaret Lawver. She died Apr. 1, 1970. Surviving are two step-daughters, Mrs. Charlotte Cunningham and Mrs. Florence Celio, both of Abingdon.

Also surviving are six grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; nine great, great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; and 35 step-great-grandchildren.

His parents, three brothers, two sisters, one granddaughter and one great-grandson preceded him in death.

Mr. Geiman retired from Moline Consumers around 1959 and resided in Abingdon since 1964. He was a member of General Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday afternoon at Larson Funeral Home in Abingdon with Rev. Ray Barber of the General Baptist Church officiating. Burial was in the Abingdon Cemetery.
