Well Known Retired Farmer Dies Sunday

Leonard A. Painter, a well known retired farmer, died Sunday forenoon at the St. Francis hospital in Macomb, where he had been a medical patient a little more than a week. He had been in failing health for sometime.

Mr. Painter was born January 23, 1872 near Sheldons Grove, a son of Leonard and Matilda Wynn Painter. He was united in marriage to Anna Osborn, March 3, 1895 at Sheldons Grove. To this union three daughters were born. His wife and a daughter, Mrs. Ina Cassel, preceded him in death.

Mr. Painter leaves to mourn his passing two daughters, Mrs. Eva Prather and Mrs. Naomi McKinley of Astoria; three grandchildren, Mrs. Nedra Lind, a granddaughter, was raised from infancy in his home, Kenneth Prather and John McKinley, all of Astoria; one sister, Mrs. Ida Wright of Denver, Colo., and one brother, David Painter of Sheldons Grove.

Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Methodist church, conducted by Rev. H. Sheldon Pattison of Geneseo, assisted by Rev. G. G. Canfield, pastor of the Astoria Church of the Brethren. Interment in the Astoria cemetery.
