John Moose

John S. Moose, 86, of Astoria died at 1:57 p.m. May 29, 2020, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital Emergency Room in Rushville.

He was born May 10, 1934, in Astoria, a son of Glenn and Mildred Baldry Moose. He married Linda Breedlove in August of 1983 in Astoria. She survives.

Also surviving are four stepsons, Jim (and Carol) Breedlove of Rushville, Danny (and Patty) Breedlove of Irag and Wes Breedlove and Rafe (and Anne) Breedlove, both of Astoria; one brother, James (and Janet) Moose of Colona; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by five brothers, David, Carl, Donald, Ted and Gary Moose.

He worked for Caterpillar Tractor Company. He then worked for Ernest Bubb’s gas company in Astoria and later was manager at Petrolane Gas Company in Astoria until it closed. He then worked as a self-employed heating and cooling technician.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1955-57 in the 2nd Field Artillery Battalion, 21st Artillery.

He was a member of Rushville Flying Club.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria was in charge of arrangements.
