Hilda Miller

Hilda B. Miller, 92, of Monmouth, died at 1:25 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, 1995, at the Monmouth Nursing Home.

She was born Nov. 9, 1903, in Astoria, the oldest daughter of Harvey and Goldie (Stremmel) Brinton. She married Harry R. Miller in Burlington, Iowa, Sept. 10, 1923. He preceded her in death Dec. 23, 1969. She was also preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Caleb, Clifford, William and Roy Brinton; and one grandson, Daniel Miller.

She is survived by one son, Donald (Mary) Miller; two daughters, Mrs. Gerald (Wilma) Sheese and Mrs. Don (Eleanor) Enslow, all of Monmouth; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Faye Gore and Eunice Horwedel, both of Vermont; one brother, Dale Brinton of Monmouth; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Miller moved to Monmouth when she was nine years of age. Her father was in construction and many brick buildings and homes were constructed by him in Monmouth. She attended Monmouth schools and had lived at 507 S. 9th St. for 50 years prior to her moving into the nursing home. She was employed in the Dietary Department of Monmouth College for 18 years from 1943 to 1961 and also employed by the Harold Hubbard family for 22 years. She was of the Protestant faith.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel with Rev. James Epperson officiating. Burial was in the Monmouth Cemetery.
