John Morton Markley Dies June 26

John Morton Markley was born Jan. 4, 1876, a son of Charles and Angeline Skiles Markley. He was born in Schuyler County near Browning, the oldest of ten children.

He was married to Stella C. Layer on April 29, 1900. He died on June 26 in General hospital at Muscatine, Ia. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and one brother and sister.

Surviving are three children, Mrs. George Mason of Smithland, Ky., Mrs. Tim Fuller of New Boston, Ill., and William R. Markley of Viola.

Also surviving are two brothers, Charles Markley, Roseville; Samuel Markley, Milan; five sisters, Mrs. Belle Danner, Astoria; Jessie Sherrill, Burlington, Ia.; Jennie Harris, Browning; Alma Burkholder, Macomb; Lillian Coffman, Nauvoo; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and 4 great, great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held in New Boston, Ill., on Friday, June 30, with burial at Liza cemetery nearby.
