Joan LoringJoan Kost Miller Loring, 96, of Macomb died at 4:18 a.m. May 20, 2024, at Wesley Village Healthcare in Macomb.

She was born March 3, 1928, in Vermont, a daughter of Wilmer M. and Jessie B. Carithers Kost. She married Ed Miller on June 26, 1949. He passed away on April 18, 1982. She later married Bob Loring on July 1, 1990. He survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Maureen (and Bob) Greene of Vermont; four grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one step great-grandchild; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by one son, David Kim Miller; one daughter, Jane Burgard; two brothers in infancy, Dale and Robert Kost and two brothers, Russell Kost and Jack Kost; two sisters, Jean Douglas and Jane Kost; and one step grandson, Allen Cramer.

She lived most of her life in Vermont until 1982. She then moved to Macomb in 1985. She worked at the Western Illinois University Book Store for many years.

She is a member of the Vermont American Legion Auxiliary and Vermont Christian Church and a former member of the Elks Deers.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb with Pastor Bob Greene officiating. Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Vermont Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the MDH Hospice or McDonough County Red Cross Transportation.
