Dwayne "Boon" Lawver

Dwayne D. "Boon" Lawver, 80, of Astoria died at 8:38 a.m. Feb. 22, 2013, at Graham Hospital in Canton.

He was born Dec. 14, 1932, a son of Clyde D. and Florine Orwig Lawver. He married Betty J. Palmer on Sept. 3, 1953, in Astoria. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, James Lawver of Peoria; one daughter, Carol (and Zach) Schumm of South Lake, Texas; two brothers, Jack Lawver of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., and Robert Lawver of La Belle, Mo.; two sisters, Juanita Waters of Aurora, Colo., and Jane Neubanks of Thornton, Colo.; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Wayne Lawver; and one sister, Bernice Westphal.

He was a United States Navy Veteran.

He worked at Caterpillar Tractor Company in East Peoria for 32 years.

He was a member of Grace Bible Church in Astoria and Astoria American Legion Post #25.

Services were held Tuesday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Pastor Kevin Owsley officiating. Burial was in South Fulton Cemetery in Astoria with military rites provided by Astoria American Legion Post #25.
