Wayne LawverWayne L. Lawver, 80, of Medford, formerly of Somerville, died Sept. 20, 2011.

He was born May 16, 1931.

Surviving are his wife, Dorothy F. (Travers) Lawver; two daughters, Susan E. Lawver of Malden and Nancy J. (and Steve) Mader of Bradford; one son, Wayne A. (and Susan) Lawver of Haverhill; three brothers, Dwayne of Illinois, Jack of Arizona and Robert Lawver of Missouri; two sisters, Juanita Waters and Jane Newbanks, both of Colorado; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Bernice Westphal.

He was a Korean Veteran and was in the U.S. Navy.

Prior to his retirement in 1982, he worked as a conveyer belt assembler at American Built Right in Cambridge. After his retirement from American Built Right, he worked as a security guard for several years at Harvard University.

He was a square dancer with the Baldwin Apples of Woburn.

Services were held Sept. 24, 2011, at Doherty Funeral Service, Inc. in Somerville, followed by a funeral Mass in St. Clement Church in Medford. Burial was in Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge.
