Ross Lockard

Ross LockardRoss Lockard, 97, of Ipava died at 10:20 p.m. Sept. 23, 2007, at Graham Hospital in Canton.

He was born Sept. 2, 1910, in Woodland Township, Fulton County, a son of John and Lillie Mae Slaight Lockard. He married S. Berniece Baker on March 30, 1931, in Dixon. She died Nov. 16, 1973. He then married Mildred “Pinky” Estes on July 16, 1974, in Maples Mill. She died Nov. 17, 1999.

He also was preceded in death by one grandson, Todd Lockard; three sisters, Birdie Blue, Goldie Lockard and Myrtle Lockard; and four brothers, Ollie, Clifton, Ernest and Arthur Lockard.

Surviving are one son, Gene (and Connie) Lockard of Ipava; one stepson, Aubry (and Mary) Baker of Canton; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He farmed his entire life. He also was a livestock trucker and a carpenter. He made over 50 Grandfather clocks.

He was a member of Summum Christian Church and Fulton County Farm Bureau.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at his church with Rev. Ken Peterson officiating. Burial will be in Summum Cemetery in Astoria. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to his church.
