He was born Feb. 3, 1928, to Berniece Baker Lockard and raised in Astoria by his grandparents David and Ida Baker. He married Mary Louise Van Horn on March 17, 1946. She preceded him in death.
Also preceding him in death was a grandson.
Surviving are three children, Audrey Brown of Las Vegas, Nev., Steve (and Nancy) Baker of Waterloo and Ted (and Dorri) Baker of Norris; one half brother Gene (and Connie) Lockard of Ipava; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving with Military Police in the Philippines.
He was a member of First Christian Church in Canton and American Legion.
Cremation will be handled by Murphy-Sedgwick Memorial Home in Canton, and no services are planned per his request.
