JAMES ROLLIN LYBARGER

James Lybarger

James Rollin Lybarger, 84, of Browning, died at 7:20 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5, 1996, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.

He was born Jan. 9, 1912, in Warren County, Illinois, the son of Lester and Florence Bowen Lybarger. He married Bette Hamm on Oct. 22, 1944, in Troy, Kan. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Eugene Lybarger of Lewistown and Robert Lybarger of Vermont; four granddaughters; one grandson; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lester Lewis Lybarger of Carthage and Melvin Freeman Lybarger of Marysville, Wash.; and one sister, Mrs. Clyde (Velma) Dean of Vermont.

He was preceded in death by one grandson, Robin Lybarger and one sister, Vera Courtney.

He first worked for International Harvester in Canton. Later he worked as a heavy equipment mechanic for Inland Steel in East Chicago, Ind., for 19 years before retiring in 1972. He was a member of the Browning United Methodist Church in Browning, and the RSVP in Browning. He served on the Town Board for a number of years.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Wood-Roby Funeral Chapel in Rushville with Collis Trone officiating. Burial will follow in the Browning Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. this evening at the funeral home.

Memorials may be given to Culbertson Memorial Hospital.
