VeteranClair Leonard Dies At Age 76

Clair L. Leonard, 76, of Spiro, Okla., formerly of Ipava, died Wednesday afternoon, March 7, 1990, at Sparks Medical Center in Fort Smith, Ark.

He was born Sept. 21, 1913, in Ipava, a son of Carl and Helena Lohr Leonard. He married Juanita Evelyn Hughes on Oct. 12, 1935, in Lewistown. She survives.

Also surviving are six sisters, Virginia Dwyer, Marilyn Chenoweth and Maxine Immel, all of Table Grove, Bernice Daniels of Redlands, Calif., May Fern Kinzer of Rialto, Calif. and Shirley Montgomery of Redford, Mich.; three brothers, Carl Jr. of Earlville, Clive of Minnetonka, Minn., and Phillip of Corpus Christi, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one brother.

He was a World War II Marine Corps veteran and a retired coal miner.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Ipava Cemetery with full military rites. Rev. Gordon E. Jones officiated. Shawgo Memorial Home in Ipava was in charge of arrangements.
