Life Long Resident Dies

David Lind Summoned At Age Of 94; Funeral Held Sunday

David H. Lind, a pioneer resident of Astoria community, died at his home in Astoria Thursday morning following an illness of several days.

Mr. Lind was born March 5, 1850 in York County, Pa., a son of Michael and Mary (Hoff) Lind. He was aged 94 years, and 7 months. He came to Illinois when a small child.

He first married Mary Fitz in 1869, who preceded him in death. To this union thirteen children were born, four of whom survive, namely: John Lind of Lenore, Idaho, Solomon Lind of Coon Rapids, Iowa, Mrs. Sadie Rudisill of Vermont, and Mrs. Martha Harlacker of Grants Pass, Oregon.

In 1894 he was united in marriage to Rosa Brooks. To them were born three children, two surviving, Mrs. Mable Harmon of Industry and Mrs. Clara Gibble of Astoria. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. His wife passed away August 30th, 1940.

Mr. Lind was the last of a family of thirteen children. He was a member of the Dunkard Brethren church. He retired from farming activities a few years ago, moving to Astoria.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 at the Astoria Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Howard Dickey of Peoria officiating, assisted by Rev. Sherman Reed of Iowa and Rev. E. F. Sherfy. Burial in the Woodland cemetery.
