Esther IrwinEsther L. Irwin, 87, of Lewistown died at 7:44 a.m. Nov. 11, 2010, at Graham Hospital in Canton.

She was born June 23, 1923, in Summum, a daughter of Carl George and Dolla S. Conner Shaffer. She married Clyde Robert Irwin on Dec. 24, 1941, in Kahoka, Mo. He preceded her in death on June 19, 1972.

She also was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Vernon Mitchell; one grandson, Terry Mitchell; and one sister, Evelyn Reno.

Surviving are one daughter, Dixie Mitchell of Cuba; two sons, Bob (and Vicki) Irwin and Denny (and Shirley) Irwin, both of Lewistown; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

She sold Avon in the Lewistown area for many years. She also was the owner/operator of the Grog Shoppe in Lewistown and worked at Clarytona Manor in Lewistown, FCRC, Fulton County Farm Bureau, Dickson Mounds and Fulton County Department of Human Services.

She was a member of Lewistown Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Services were held Sunday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Burial was in Astoria Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Clayberg Nursing Center in Cuba.
