He was born June 27, 1977, in Macomb, a son of Terry and Margie Lutz Hayes.
Surviving are four sons, Chris Hayes, Jake Hayes and Dylan Hayes, all of Vermont, and Brad Hayes of Astoria; one daughter, Kayssie Hayes of Vermont; two brothers, Brian (and Crystal) Hayes of Astoria and Tony (and Shantell) Hayes of Vermont; one sister, Patricia Hayes of Rushville; grandmother, Geraldine Hayes of Macomb; and one stepsister, Katy Walters of Astoria.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Greg Hayes; grandfather, Charles Hayes; grandparents, Ethel and Toler Lutz; and stepmother, Jeanette Walters.
He was both an over the road truck driver and drove for area farmers. He worked for Freedom Seed House, Astoria Trucking, Black Gold Cattle Company, Heitz Farms, Ratcliff Farms, Dean Farms and Astoria Farms.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Pastor Gary Sheets officiating. A visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Vermont Cemetery.
