Stanley T. Hickle, 69, of Vermont died at 10:48 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2002, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

He was born Sept. 12, 1933, in Vermont Township in Fulton County, a son of Theodore R. and Lucille Brown Hickle. He married Marie Geiman on Nov. 7, 1954, in Peoria. She survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Stanley (and Jan) of Easton, and Victor and Erik (and Karen), both of Vermont; three daughters, Dawn Hickle and Shawna (and Kevin) Betz, both of Vermont, and Scarlett Hickle of Industry; one brother, Gilbert (and Ruby) of Vermont; one sister, Mary Ellen (and Oniley) Farwell of Astoria; 21 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Ricky Shane; three brothers; and two sisters.

He was a Korean War Army veteran.

A member of United Auto Workers, he worked for Navistar for 25 years, retiring in 1992.

He also was a self-employed barber in Vermont.

He attended Astoria Church of the Brethren in Astoria.

Services were held Sunday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Pastor Gary Schultz officiating. Burial was in Vermont Cemetery.
