RUTH M. (McLAREN) HOKE

Ruth Hoke

Ruth M. Hoke, 95, of rural Browning, died at 9:35 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, 1996, at Astoria Health Care Center in Astoria.

She was born April 2, 1901, in Schuyler County, a daughter of Edgar and Laura Jane Beam McLaren. She married Lloyd E. Hoke on Feb. 28, 1922, in Rushville. He died Nov. 4, 1975. One brother and one foster daughter also preceded her in death.

Surviving are one daughter, Helen Winston of Astoria; and one sister, Hildreth Cassel of Browning; and one sister-in-law, Isla McLaren of Astoria.

She was a member of Bader Christian Church in Bader, where she served as pianist for 77 years; Bader Ladies Aid; and Browning-Hickory Home Extension Unit.

Graveside services were held Tuesday at Bader Cemetery in Bader. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria was in charge of arrangements.
