ISLA M. (HOKE) McLAREN

Isla McLaren

Isla M. McLaren, 96, of Astoria, died at 8:25 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, 1998, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.

She was born Feb. 6, 1902, in Bader, the daughter of Joseph and Cora Smith Hoke. She married Merle B. McLaren on Nov. 26, 1921, in Schuyler County. He died Aug. 1, 1988. One brother also preceded her in death.

Surviving are one son, Willis of Astoria; one daughter, Rosalie Fierce of Sister Bay, Wis.; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was a member of Bader Christian Church. She was a past member of the Rebekah Lodge in Downers Grove.

Graveside services were held Tuesday at Bader Cemetery with Rev. James Shirley officiating. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Astoria Rescue Squad or to her church.
