Helen A. Winston, 84, of Astoria died at 4:35 p.m. April 10, 2012, at The Elms in Macomb.
She was born Oct. 27, 1927, in Rushville, the daughter of Lloyd E. and Ruth McLaren Hoke. She married Paul R. Winston on Aug. 11, 1946, in Bader. He preceded her in death on Dec. 5, 1997.
She also was preceded in death by one foster sister, Pauline Hockenberry; and one cousin, Lois Morris.
Surviving are three cousins, David (and Rita) Cassel of Astoria, Keith (and Charlotte) Cassel of Raleigh, N.C., and Dale (and Carol) Cassel of Pekin.
She was a school teacher and also a bookkeeper at Mummert Seed Co., Astoria Fibra-Steel, Skiles Fertilizer and Astoria Healthcare Center.
She was a member of Bader Christian Church and Astoria American Legion Post #25 Auxiliary.
Services were held Saturday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Pastor Dean Cripe officiating. Burial was in Bader Cemetery.
