ARTHA BERNICE (SAMUELL) SACKMAN HOWE

Mrs. Bernice Howe Dies Monday

Mrs. Artha Bernice Howe, 66, of 221 S. Orange St., Havana, died at 1 p.m. Monday in the Mason District Hospital there.

She was born Oct. 1, 1900, in Fulton County, a daughter of Andrew and Sarah Cousins Samuel. She was married in 1917 to Harry Sackman who died June 28, 1926. She was later married to Alexander Howe in Lewistown. He survives.

Also surviving are one son, Charles Robert Sackman of Havana; one daughter, Miss Harriett Sackman of Springfield; three step-daughters, Mrs. Elsie Mae Prettyman of Easton, Mrs. Norma Weber of Bushnell and Mrs. Dorothy Van Etten of Lewistown; one step-son, Marshall Howe of Havana; one grandchild; 10 step-grandchildren; 5 step-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Nancy Baumgardner of Summum.

Mrs. Howe was a member of Central Christian Church, past matron of Hesperia Chapter OES, member of White Shrine of Canton, Havana Home Bureau, Havana Women's Club and Mason District Hospital Auxiliary.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday afternoon at Hurley Funeral Home in Havana with the Rev. George Wilson officiating. Burial will be in the Summum Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home where Hesperia Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star will conduct services Thursday.
