Dies After Long Illness

Ross Hoke, 61, died at his residence at 321 South Lafayette street, at 8:40 last night. He had undergone operation last Oct. 7 at St. Louis for tumor on the brain and had been bedfast since last September.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Clugston funeral home. The Rev. Colin Robertson will officiate, with burial in Ipava cemetery. The Ipava Masonic lodge, of which he was a member, will conduct services.

He was born Oct. 13, 1888 in Fulton county, a son of Emanuel and Alice Jane Lau Hoke. All of his life was spent in Farmers township, Fulton county, except for the last eight years in Macomb. He was a farmer. He was married Dec. 11, 1915 to Chloie Mae Clemens, who survives with a son, George R. Hoke, Macomb route two, and a grandson Kenneth Ross Hoke. Also surviving are a brother and two sisters, Martin C. Hoke, Macomb route one, Mrs. Gertrude Defenbaugh of Peoria and Mrs. Amanda Chambers of Mt. Auburn, Ia., a half-brother, Harry Hoke of Lewistown, and four half-sisters, Mrs. Alfred Johnson of Bushnell, Mrs. Fairy Landis of Avant, Okla., Mrs. Dollie Reneau of Canton and Mrs. Carrie Landis of Skiatook, Okla. A half-brother, Harvey, a sister, Mrs. Ida Barnes, and four half-sisters, Mrs. Anna Johnson, Mrs. Alice Zindel, Mrs. Leah Huston and Mrs. Lucy Lackey, are deceased.

Friends may call at the Hoke residence after 2 p.m. Sunday until 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Death of Ross Hoke

IPAVA — The announcement came to Ipava Saturday, saying that Ross Hoke of Macomb had died at a Macomb hospital. The funeral was held in Macomb Sunday. Burial was in the Ipava cemetery.

Mr. Hoke was formerly of near Ipava until the government took the farm he resided on at Camp Ellis. He was the husband of the former Chloe Clemens. He has one son, George Hoke of Macomb. He was a member of the Masonic lodge and O. E. S. He had been in poor health for several years.
