Russell Gibble

Russell W. Gibble, 85, of Macomb died at 9:20 p.m. Saturday, April 3, 2004, at McDonough District Hospital.

He was born April 6, 1918, in Astoria, a son of Addison and Ada Bowman Gibble. He married Enid Walters on May 10, 1944, in Kansas City, Kan. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Roberta (and Wyman) Whipple of Dahinda; and three sisters, Beulah (and Robert) Dohner of Astoria, Grace (and Maurice) Hartman of Macomb and Frances Wright of Wabash, Ind.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Stauffer Gibble.

He operated a dairy and produce business for 20 years. He then worked at Rosymorn Gyrnsy Farms for several years and was a distributor for Central Petroleum Co. for 20 years. He recently worked for Century 21 of Macomb.

He was a former member of Macomb Moose Lodge and was a member of Sleepy Eye Collectors Club of America.

He was a member of Macomb First Christian Church, where he was known for his mastery of carpentry, and contributed his skills in a variety of ways to the church and community.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Sargent-Worthington Funeral Home in Macomb. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Astoria Cemetery in Astoria.

Memorials may be made to the Macomb Fire Department.
